Back in 1916 he offered car rental to all the interested persons, using own Ford for this purpose. According to the legend, the first customer of Sanders was a merchant, who was late for a date. Whatever it was, by the year of 1925 already a small business reached new heights, and car rental branches were available in more than twenty states. Of course, the Great Depression reduced the demand for such services over time, but the mechanism had already been launched. Another pioneer of the car rental movement was Walter Jacobs, who established his own company in Chicago in 1918. As early as at the age of 22 years old, Jacobs began his business. At first, his fleet of motor vehicles consisted of twelve Fords, which he repaired and serviced on his own. Annual revenue and the enterprise opportunities were gradually growing, and later Jacobs resold the business to John Hertz, the owner of the Hertz Transport Company, which became one of the largest in the world over time. The car rental reached its full prosperity after the Second World War, when economics, business, and correspondingly, the transport industry began to actively develop. Many well-known market leaders nowadays appeared already in the 40-s. Gradually the service spread worldwide.
