Each city has its own unique image. Especially such a vivid and bright city as Lviv. And most likely it is revealed at its best on the eve of New Year and Christmas holidays. Shining lights only emphasize the beauty of ancient buildings and streets. And local temples preserved the most fascinating holiday traditions which might be interesting for not religious people to join.

It is enough to see the new-year Lviv once so as not to forget it anymore. You will find festive shopping, gifts, bright fireworks and illumination.

The main celebration takes place in the Central square. An elegant festive Christmas tree is annually set near the Opera house, and guests are greeted by favorite cartoon characters.

City shopping windows turn into a real open-air museum. Coffee houses, restaurants and shops seem to compete in elegancy and originality of decorations and in their own unique interpretations of the classic Christmas storyline.

Lviv Christmas fair

One more peculiarity is a famous Christmas fair, one of the longest in Europe.  It lasts more than a month: from the second decade of December to mid-January. Trade is in full spate from morning till evening and seven days a week.  Liters of coffee drinks and wine are pouring out. And you can refresh yourself with hot and delicious street food.

The fair takes place in two locations at the same time: Svobody Avenue and Rynok Square.  Here you can try Christmas treats and traditional dishes, buy gifts and souvenirs, enjoy the play of street musicians.  There are numerous photo booths everywhere.

Active New Year

There are a lot of options in Lviv for active leisure lovers.  A large skating rink with supporting festive music on it is filled annually on Rynok Square.  It is in great demand among citizens and tourists.

Also you can always rent a car from us and go skiing.  The nearest ski resort to the city is situated in Zhovkva district in the village of Maidan.  It is about 20 minutes from Lviv. There are only one trail and one lift but it is enough for beginners.

There is Bukovytsia resort on the outskirts of Boryslav. It is relatively new but already popular among winter sports lovers. There are three trails for beginners, two trails for experienced skiers and one trail for professionals.  The length of the main slope is more than kilometer. There is also 250-meters flat descent for children.
