Each car driver faced the dilemma of choosing between the leather or fabric interior. In fact, there is no single right answer, and in the end everything is decided by personal priorities and preferences. But we at Ukr-Prokat in Kyiv want to share the main features of both materials in the process of its usage.
Leather interior
First of all, leather is about aesthetics and prestige. In fact this material is much more accessible nowadays and can be afforded not only by the owners of luxury cars. In addition, there are lots of very high quality substitutes.
Leather salons significantly outperform textiles in terms of practicality. To remove a stain or spilled liquid, simply wipe the surface with a cloth. The main thing is that the material was initially of high quality. And then it will serve successfully for plenty of years. At the same time, if the stain is really serious, this advantage turns into a small problem. Because safe skin cleansers are more expensive.
But the main disadvantage of the leather interior is the sensitivity of the material to temperatures. In the heat, the seats are very hot and resemble a hot pan, and in winter they constantly freeze. From this point of view, textiles will certainly win. And the skin is impermeable to air, which creates a kind of greenhouse effect. If this is important, you should pay attention to the perforated upholstery.
There are even American studies that in the heat through the glass windows the leather warms up to 70 degrees. And when freezing in the cold, cheap material can generally crack. Although, of course, there are already heated seats. This solves the problem, although it adds cost.
Salon from fabric
The fabric is a good combination of affordability and variety. There are a lot of options with different textures, densities and characteristics in general. There is a large selection of colors and you can experiment with design in many different ways.
The fabric does not depend on temperature, and always remains comfortable. And it is significantly cheaper than quality leather. And it does not have a characteristic aroma of the leather , which is not pleasant for everyone. But it needs to be water resistant.
The main disadvantage of textiles is their sensitivity to dirt and odors. It is better not to eat on fabric seats and avoid smoking. It will be much more difficult to clean stains. Besides, the fabric interior without constant dry cleaning wears out faster than leather. Although it is cheaper to maintain in the end.
If you plan to resell the car in the future, it is also more profitable to take the fabric. The reason behind it is that you will have to pay significantly more for them. And during the resale you will be able to get back only a small part of this amount.
In addition, there are different types of fabric. For example, flock and velour are significantly better than conventional textiles in terms of strength, practicality, durability and even fire safety. The same goes for Alcantara. This is the so-called artificial suede, which harmoniously combines the advantages of both materials, although it will not be much cheaper than leather.
